2024 summer faith formation
Here at Saint Therese we offer families an opportunity to have their children complete the requirements for religious education during one intensive week of faith formation. This popular program is open to students in grades 1-7. Classes are from 8:30am-3:00pm and will take place this July 8 - 12, 2024. Students that complete an intensive one-week Faith Formation session meet all of the requirements for their catechism classes for the year.

Summer intensive detailsDate: Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 12
Time: 8:30 am (begins) to 3:00 pm
Who is eligible:
•students rising to grades 1st to 7th (for 2024-2025 school year)
•returning 2023-2024 Summer Faith Formation students whose families completed their 4 family enrichment events (you have until March 31st)
•students who are in need of catching up for sacramental preparation are not eligible—i.e. if your child is going into 2nd grade but has not completed Year 1 (1st grade)
Class size: 16 students per grade
Curriculum: Finding God with Loyola Press with a supplemental Catholic VBS theme. Students will have 5 lessons with their curriculum along with learning a bible verse, virtue of the day, saint of the day, daily Mass, outdoor activities and crafts. Throughout the week they will take church tours and as a class go to confession (grades 3-7). They will also learn about the liturgical season during the week and there will be various theme days (such as wearing purple for Advent, wear a Christmas shirt for Christmas season). On our last day we will complete a group service project (more to come on this event).
Schedule: opening and closing prayer, daily themed lesson and recap, daily Mass, snack, lunch,
5 lessons and supplemental sessions, activities (structured recess) and themed crafts.
Non-refundable/Non-transferable Fee: $150 per student (no family cap is available); payment and full registration are due by Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Lottery:
•Is available beginning February 25—March 2, 2024 - Keep scrolling. The lottery form is below.
•Families will be notified the week of March 17 (dependent on that all catechist/helper roles are filled).
•Families will have from March 24—April 10 to complete covenant and registration (registration will be available online to print; registration is in-person); registration form is listed under Documents on this page below.
•If one or both is/are not submitted (registration and payment), family will be placed at the end of the waiting list.
•2023-2024 students who did not complete required 4 family enrichments by March 31, your
registration will be null and your fee will be refunded, if registered and paid before March 31. You will need to register for one of the fall options beginning in May.
*Please note: Lottery online submission is NOT the registration. The registration will be a separate form.
Special notes:
•Those who are not picked, will be placed on a waiting list
•Those who are friends/family (staff) and those who volunteer for one of the following roles, will automatically be registered first
•Those who assist in the following roles, will be provided a discount of 50% (full-week commitment) per child and will be reimbursed the discount upon completion of summer program:
>Catechists (we need 2 adults per classroom; total of 14)
>RN/CNA to be on hand throughout the day to help with minor medical needs (bug bites, cuts/scratches, tummy aches, etc.) (1 all week or 2 to split day in 3 hr. 15 min. shifts)
>Crafts (3)
>Activities (3)
>Office Assistants/Catechist subs (2) (who will be on hand during the week to assist with various needs or fill in as a catechist in an emergency)
>Hall monitors/traffic controllers (morning and afternoon) along with snack and lunch coordinators (2)
•All catechists and volunteers will be required to take Protecting God’s Children/or be current/up-to-date on Virtus bulletins, complete a background check (if needed) and fill out volunteer profile packet (if needed)
•Those who volunteer in the catechist and assistant roles will be required to have a training (this is not optional); catechist/assistant training will be Mon., June 3, 6-8 pm; Crafts/Activities, Hall Monitors/Traffic Controllers/Snack-Lunch Coordinators training will be Tues., June 4, 6-8 pm
•Catechists will be invited in Sun., July 7 to get their classroom set up, supplies, and copies made.
Rules & Expectations:
•No early dismissals or late arrivals
•No doctors/dentists/orthodontic appointments—please reschedule
•Attendance is required for your student
•No excuses for sports or other related events
•Parents need to drop-off on time and pick-up on time
•Families will be required to attend 4 Family Enrichment events throughout the 2024-2025 academinc year as they are
organized (not all are through Faith Formation):
•Family Advent Event (November/December)
•Museum of Saints (October)
•Family Bingo Night (TBD)
•Stations of the Cross during Lent 2025 (TBD)
•Family Adoration & Praise & Worship Night (TBD) and other events as they are organized at the parish
•Families sign up to be trained as greeters for a Mass on a rotating schedule
Volunteer as a family at one community outreach program that is supported by St. Therese (Christian Mission, FeedNC, Lake Norman Pregnancy Center, Fifth Street Ministries (Statesville)), etc. This may be used one time as a Family Enrichment.
