Fr. Huver was born in a small village in the Mountains of Peru. As a young boy, after seeing and hearing the testimony of the Missionary Sisters of Jesus, he was interested in their Mission and as an 8 year old boy, started to spend a lot of time with the Sisters. He would accompany the sisters visiting the sick in other villages and assisting as an altar servant in the celebrations of the Word of God that they did.
The Sisters were the first to see a calling to the Priesthood within Fr. Huver. As a result, he accepted the calling and joined the Comboni Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He studied philosophy in Lima. He did his noviciate formation in Huanuco. Then he was sent to Kenya for his mission formation. He spent five years studying theology at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Tangaza College. He had an interesting experience of the internationality of the Catholic Church because he studied with other seminarians and priests from all different parts of the world. His experience with the Comboni Missionaries resulted in his 12 years of formation to become a Priest.
Fr. Huver is enjoying his time here at St. Therese and told me, “He is inspired by our missionary presence here with people from all over the country and the world. He is extremely grateful for the providence of God, Friendship and generosity of Fr. Mark and the welcoming of the Diocese of Charlotte, personally Bishop Jugis and Monsignor Winslow.”
“To the Parishioners, Thank You for your generosity and support making it possible for me to join you here at St. Therese Parish. Your donations made it possible that I may come to share my faith with you. I came as a brother priest to help you in your spiritual needs. Finally, I would like to thank my home Diocese of Huanuco for letting me have this experience of missionary life here among you!”
