I feel honored to serve our parishioners on the Pastoral Council. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the near future and hearing your thoughts about how to more completely fulfill our mission of Loving God, Following Jesus, and Serving All.
I grew up in Winter Park, FL and lived in Tallahassee, FL; Decatur, GA; and Asheville, NC prior to settling in Mooresville, NC. My husband Howie and I have experienced the joy and mercy of being “returned Catholics,” and have committed to raising our later-in-life blessing, daughter Rose, in the Church.
Outside of family, my vocation is teaching. I have taught preschool (Little Way) through college (Mitchell C.C.) and everything in between! Currently I love my job teaching Advanced Placement and Honors English to 11th and 12th graders at Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy. My education includes a B.A. in English from Agnes Scott, an M.Ed in Curriculum and Leadership from Emory, as well as a M.A. in English from Western Carolina. At some point in the future I would like to continue my formal education in some aspect related to religious education.
Passions I have relevant to our parish include encouraging and welcoming lapsed Catholics back into the fold, sharing the spirituality of St. Ignatius (“God in all Things”) and St. Therese of Lisieux (“Little Things with Great Love”), and nurturing the children of the parish, helping them to know God’s love and grow in their faith and commitment to the Church. I have a devotion to our Mother Mary and try to follow her example in trust and obedience to God’s will.
In my leisure time, I like to garden, quilt, cook, foster kittens for Lake Norman Humane, and read, including bible study. My favorite passages from scripture include Hebrews 11:1-2, 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, Matthew 25:40, Ephesians 2:3-10, and Luke 1:38.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any ideas or concerns about our parish and programs.
