About four and a half years ago, the parish purchased three adjacent properties, which included 3 houses with a total of 6.8 acres. The incentive was to buy the property for the future of the parish. The timing proved to be excellent as we bought the property at a reasonable price. The real estate values in the area have greatly increased. The estimated value today, just 4 1/2 years later, is perhaps $700,000 more than we paid. All three homes have been rented for most of this time, which has helped us to pay the note to the diocese on the amount that we borrowed. At the end of April, the renters in 143 Sunfish Drive moved out and we have since done some repairs and improvements to the home. The priests will move to this abode as the new rectory this month (July 2022). We are evaluating the condition and potential use of the old rectory which was constructed a little more than 30 years ago. This evaluation is part of the preparation of our master site plan.
