The Just Moved Women’s Newcomers ministry provides encouragement for women going through the transition and adjustment of moving.

Based on the book After the Boxes are Unpacked, this is an opportunity to meet others, exchange insights, and find the courage to put down roots all over again. Whether you are single, married, stay at home, work outside the home, or are retired, the stress of moving can overwhelm you at times. Make some time for yourself to share and to be assured by new friends that you will not feel lost in the shuffle.
This class is open to any ladies who would like to participate, even if you have not moved recently. We have had women participate who have been parishioners for years and wanted to join the class to make connections with other women at St. Therese.
Each group meets for 10 weeks and sessions are offered twice a year. Book is $10. We also offer evening classes some seasons, when necessary. Please join us!
Dear Rev. Lawlor,
Thank you for supporting Sophia McNiff and Tracy deRoos in their ministry to newcomers. We are honoring the After the Boxes are Unpacked class at St. Therese Catholic as our featured class for the entire month of June on our website, www.justmoved.org! Sophia and Tracy are impacting lives for Christ as they minister to the needs of women who are new to your church and to your community. Through this study, the women establish friendships and find a supportive and loving place to belong when everything else in their lives is new and unfamiliar. What a powerful outreach for your church!
I know you will want to join us in acknowledging Sophia and Tracy for their part in reaching out to newcomers in your area and helping them connect to Christ, your church, and their new community. They are an important part of our worldwide ministry using the resources of Just Moved. Since 1995 Just Moved has been committed to offering the hope and encouragement of Jesus Christ to women who are uprooted by a move.
To see the spotlight on our webpage of the After the Boxes class, please visit our Group Spotlight page. Thousands of people who visit our site will know of the active and supportive outreach ministry your church has for newcomers.
Please call or email with any questions or comments that you may have regarding Just Moved Ministry or the After the Boxes are Unpacked study at your church. It is a privilege for us to join you in kingdom work. To God be the Glory!
Gratefully,

Just Moved Ministry
A few words from Sophia and Tracy:
When asked about her history with the ministry, Sophia said, “Tracy and I attended the Just Moved class in 2004. It helped us so much, and gave us each a best friend - each other! Parishioner Lois Yaniero started this program at St. Therese, and once we graduated from our class, we stayed on as ‘angels’ to help her. When Lois decided to step down, she asked us to lead. Over the years we have had several different ‘angels’ help us, and for the last 4 or 5 years Mary and Gaylynn have been with us. Everyone who has been through the class is also considered an ‘angel’. They pray for the new class as they go through the sessions, help at sign-ups, and provide snacks. We also have a Facebook page for past attendees to keep in touch and share.”
Tracy added, “It’s a wonderful ministry and we’re proud to have been connected with it for these past 14 years. We hold 10-week sessions each spring and fall, and always enjoy meeting new people from all over, including multiple countries and faiths. It’s so rewarding to watch women connect with one another, and especially fun to see how many classmates come in as strangers and leave as close friends. Many of our groups continue to get together regularly after they graduate from our class, and lots of them are an integral part of other church ministries. We feel blessed to be part of this ministry.”
