Join the Faith Formation family to gather as a large community to make your family creche for Advent. Each family, during their faith formation time, will gather together to receive their family creche kit for Advent. The Christmas Crèche is a popular Advent family tradition and an opportunity to unite our families with a common arts and crafts activity. Each family will be provided instructions and materials to build a small crèche or manger out of popsicle sticks. During Advent, the child will place a piece of straw or hay into the crèche for each good deed performed or prayer recited during the Advent season. Over the course of weeks, these pieces of hay will accumulate to become a comfortable resting place for the birth of the Baby Jesus on Christmas Day. On Christmas Eve, the child will place a small Baby Jesus doll into the crèche/manger that has been so lovingly prepared for Him. This craft is a popular way to teach children the spiritual truth that our good deeds and prayers are pleasing to our Lord and provide Him with a comfortable resting place in our souls.
